Mason Mount arrives at the Manchester United training facility to finish his £60 million transfer from Chelsea.

Manchester United are close to finalizing a deal for Mason Mount as the England international is set to leave Chelsea who could be worth up to £60m.

Mason Mount’s move to Manchester United is fast approaching and the England star has now settled into the club’s training base.

Mount, 24, is set to join United in a deal initially valued at £55m with an additional £5m in surcharges. He was spotted arriving at the Red Devils training camp at Carrington on Monday.

The move comes after the Chelsea Academy product entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

The England international will be United’s first signing this summer under Erik ten Hag. However, United have already confirmed a number of departures – for example, goalkeeper David de Gea’s contract is about to expire.

United and Chelsea have been involved in negotiations over Mount, who first joined the London club as a child. The Blues were thought to keep £58m plus £7m in add-ons before finally reaching a compromise.

The 24-year-old will join England teammates including Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw at Old Trafford. Mount has missed some of the Three Lions’ recent games through injury but was part of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

United continue to be linked with a host of other summer recruits as they prepare for a Champions League return leg at Old Trafford. One man Mount could follow to the club is Marcel Sabitzer, who has been linked with a permanent move after impressing on loan last season

A new striker is also on Ten Hag’s shopping list this summer, and United are not expected to permanently commit Wout Weghorst to a contract.

Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is one of the names linked, while there are also ongoing reports of England captain Harry Kane.

However, any move for Kane could prove difficult given United’s budget constraints. The same goes for fellow frontmen Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani, both of whom are said to be asking for significant fees.

As for Chelsea, the sale of Mount would be a continuation of a busy summer of selling, in which the Blues have already recouped more than £100m in transfer fees.

The most notable outing was Kai Havertz joining Arsenal in a £65m deal, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy are among the other stars who played their last game for the London outfit.

Chelsea, who are preparing for a first season in the Premier League under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, have also made their first signings of the summer.

The arrival of RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku has finally been made official, while promising young Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson has also arrived at Stamford Bridge.
