Netflix Renews Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Documentary Series

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders

Netflix has renewed its unscripted series America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for a second season, which will follow the cheerleading squad during the 2024-25 season.

The streamer is returning to the sidelines of the Dallas Cowboys, with season one of the series, which debuted in June, having spent four weeks in Netflix’s worldwide top 10 English-language series, plus an additional week in the U.S. top 10.

The upcoming second season will track the cheerleaders through their 2024-25 season, beginning with auditions and continuing through the NFL year. (As of Nov. 10, the Cowboys are struggling with a 3-6 record.)

America’s Sweethearts is part of Netflix’s ongoing partnership with the Cowboys. The streaming service is also developing a docuseries focused on the team and its owner, Jerry Jones, highlighting the Cowboys’ dominance in the 1990s when they won three Super Bowls in four years. (Additionally, Netflix’s upcoming Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match will take place at AT&T Stadium, home of the Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas.)

The series is produced by One Potato Productions, the team behind Cheer and Last Chance U, in collaboration with Boardwalk Pictures and Campfire Studios. Executive producers include Greg Whiteley (who also directs) and Adam Leibowitz of One Potato, along with Andrew Fried and Dane Lillegard of Boardwalk Pictures, and Ross M. Dinerstein and Rebecca Evans of Campfire Studios.

Mike McCarthy speaks out about ’embarrassing’ incident following Jerry Jones’ decision on firing Dallas Cowboys HC

Mike McCarthy speaks out about 'embarrassing' incident following Jerry Jones' decision on firing Dallas Cowboys HC

Mike McCarthy lost his temper during the Dallas Cowboys’ recent defeat.

The Cowboys were beaten 27-21 by the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, and throughout the game, McCarthy became increasingly frustrated with the team’s performance.

Fox NFL cameras captured a moment when his frustration reached a boiling point on the sidelines.

McCarthy was seen slamming his tablet onto the ground in an outburst of anger.

NFL fans quickly noticed this and expressed their desire for McCarthy to be dismissed by the Cowboys.

“Can we fire him at half time?” one fan questioned.

“Someone might be fired this season,” another commented.

“He’s getting fired before the season ends. Hopefully!” said a third fan.

“They just need to do away with McCarthy,” a fourth fan added.

“You can see he’s ready to move on. Don’t blame him. Dallas is toxic,” a fifth fan remarked.

McCarthy addressed the incident after the game, expressing regret for his actions.

“I’m embarrassed by it,” he told reporters. “It’s something that at my age, clearly there is no excuse for.”

When asked about the tablet incident, McCarthy shared his remorse.

“That’s not what I represent. I’m embarrassed as the leader of this team. That was definitely a moment that I wish I had back.”

While the Cowboys may need a spark, McCarthy’s outburst may have been a step too far.

The team is currently 3-5, significantly trailing their rivals, the Washington Commanders, who are 7-2 for the season.

With quarterback Dak Prescott now injured, making the playoffs seems almost impossible.

Prescott is expected to be out for at least four weeks due to a hamstring injury.

“We have five losses and so we clearly understand where that puts us as far as what it will take,” McCarthy said.

“We’ve got to get to winning.”
