The New York Jets are searching for a new general manager after parting ways with Joe Douglas earlier this season. They have already interviewed several candidates, including Titans GM Jon Robinson and ESPN’s Louis Riddick.
On Thursday, they conducted another interview, this time with Jim Nagy, the current executive director of the Senior Bowl and a former NFL scout with extensive experience. Nagy recently made headlines for suggesting that the College Football Playoff should account for NFL talent when evaluating rosters.
However, it’s not Nagy’s recent comments that have raised eyebrows following his interview with the Jets, but rather a tweet from 2020.
We’ll take Dillon Radunz. https://t.co/CdajdVM9y5

In response to a question about which college player (excluding quarterbacks) fans would build their NFL team around, Nagy selected North Dakota State offensive lineman Dillon Radunz over more prominent prospects. The options presented were Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell, Penn State edge rusher Micah Parsons, LSU defensive back Derrick Stingley Jr., and LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
While Radunz was Nagy’s unconventional choice, the other players quickly proved themselves to be elite talents. Ja’Marr Chase was drafted fifth overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2021 NFL Draft, Sewell went seventh to the Detroit Lions, and Parsons was selected twelfth by the Dallas Cowboys. Stingley Jr., just a sophomore at the time, went third overall to the Houston Texans in the 2022 NFL Draft. All four have emerged as superstar players and key pieces for their teams.
In contrast, Radunz, who was drafted 53rd overall in the second round by the Tennessee Titans, has struggled to make an impact. Having played in 44 games and started 21, he currently holds a PFF grade of just 57.2, ranking 83rd out of 128 eligible guards this season.
Despite this, Nagy remains a candidate for the Jets’ GM role, raising doubts among fans about the team’s decision-making process.
