The NFL unveiled the playoff scenarios for Week 17, detailing how teams can secure a No. 1 seed, a division title, or a playoff spot this week. The top seed comes with a first-round bye and home-field advantage.
In the AFC, the Buffalo Bills (12-3) have already won the AFC East, the Houston Texans (9-6) have secured the AFC South, and the Kansas City Chiefs (14-1) have clinched the AFC West. The Baltimore Ravens (10-5) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-5), both vying for the AFC North title, have also guaranteed playoff spots.
AFC Playoff Scenarios
Kansas City Chiefs (14-1)
Opponent: at Pittsburgh Steelers (Wednesday, 1 p.m. ET)
Kansas City can secure the AFC No. 1 seed, the only first-round bye, and home-field advantage with:
- A Chiefs win or tie
- A Bills loss or tie
Los Angeles Chargers (9-6)
Opponent: at New England Patriots (Saturday, 1 p.m. ET)
Los Angeles can clinch a playoff berth with:
- A Chargers win or tie
- A Dolphins loss or tie and a Colts loss or tie
Denver Broncos (9-5)
Opponent: at Cincinnati Bengals (Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET)
Denver can secure a playoff spot with:
- A Broncos win or tie
NFC Playoff Scenarios
In the NFC, the Detroit Lions (13-2), Minnesota Vikings (13-2), Philadelphia Eagles (12-3), and Green Bay Packers (11-4) have already secured playoff berths.
Detroit Lions (13-2)

Detroit can clinch the NFC No. 1 seed, the lone first-round bye, and home-field advantage with:
- A Lions win and a Vikings loss
Philadelphia Eagles (12-3)

Philadelphia can win the NFC East division title with:
- An Eagles win or tie
- A Commanders loss or tie
Los Angeles Rams (9-6)
