The New England Patriots have made a significant acquisition involving a young running back.
The New England Patriots have been high on undrafted rookie running back Terrell Jennings throughout the season. While he hasn’t seen much playing time, the team believes he could be a valuable contributor in the future.
With this in mind, the Patriots made a significant move with Jennings on Friday.
According to a report by Christopher Price of the Boston Globe, New England is promoting Jennings to the 53-man roster for the remainder of the 2024 season and for next year as well.
A league source confirmed that PS RB Terrell Jennings is set to join the Patriots’ 53-man roster for the rest of the 2024 season, and for the upcoming year.
Jennings went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft following a strong college career at Florida A&M. Over four years, he recorded 383 carries for 1,757 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging a solid 4.6 yards per carry. He also had 18 receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown.
In his rookie season with New England, Jennings has had five carries for 13 yards.
Although his playing time has been limited, New England might be planning to give him some opportunities in the final three games of the season. It will be interesting to see how he performs if given a chance.
This move is significant, especially this late in the season. Jennings is expected to make an impact for the rest of this season and next year.
It’s clear the Patriots believe they may have found a hidden gem in Jennings. Hopefully, he can develop into the player they envision him becoming.
Don’t be surprised if Jennings gets some playing time in the coming weeks.
