After a strong regular season with a 15-2 record, several Detroit Lions players are set to compete in this weekend’s Pro Bowl Games in Orlando.
Six Lions players will participate in the Pro Bowl Games, including four on offense, one on defense, and one on special teams. The Pro Bowl Games will kick off on Thursday, Jan. 30, with the Skills Showdown, followed by additional skill competitions and the AFC vs. NFC flag football championship on Sunday, Feb. 2, at Camping World Stadium.
Although seven players were initially selected for the Pro Bowl, tackle Penei Sewell and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown opted out. Sewell’s spot was filled by tackle Taylor Decker, while St. Brown’s spot was taken by rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers of the Giants.
Here are the six Lions competing in the Pro Bowl Games:
Safety Brian Branch
In his second season, Brian Branch earned his first Pro Bowl selection and is the only Lions defender heading to Orlando. During the regular season, Branch posted 109 tackles (79 solo), 16 passes defended, six quarterback hits, and four interceptions. Branch made the transition to safety this year, forming a strong duo with fellow safety Kerby Joseph, and his flexibility as a nickel cornerback helped the Lions through defensive injuries. He became the third defensive back since 1999 to record 100-plus tackles, 15 passes defended, and five tackles-for-loss in a single season, joining Ronde Barber (2006) and Rodney Harrison (2000).

Tackle Taylor Decker
This will be Taylor Decker’s first Pro Bowl appearance, replacing Penei Sewell. The nine-year veteran, drafted in the first round by Detroit in 2016, earned a PFF grade of 77.0, ranking 22nd out of 141 tackles. Decker signed an extension last offseason to remain in Detroit through 2027 and now holds the third-most games started at the position in franchise history with 126.

Punter Jack Fox
Jack Fox will appear in his second Pro Bowl and was recently named an AP All-Pro first-team player. His net punting average of 46.2 yards this season set a new NFL record, surpassing Johnny Hekker’s 46.0-yard mark from 2016. Fox also led the league with a 51.0 gross punting average and became the first player in NFL history to average both 51.0 gross yards and 46.0 net yards per punt in a single season.

Running Back Jahmyr Gibbs
Jahmyr Gibbs earned his first Pro Bowl invite after an outstanding 2024 season, rushing for 1,412 yards and 16 touchdowns while also catching 517 receiving yards and four touchdowns. His 5.6 yards per carry ranked third behind Derrick Henry of Baltimore and Saquon Barkley of Philadelphia. Gibbs set a franchise record with 20 scrimmage touchdowns and became the fourth player in NFL history to record at least 1,900 scrimmage yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, and four receiving touchdowns in a season.

Quarterback Jared Goff
Jared Goff had one of the best seasons of his career in his fourth year with Detroit and ninth overall. He set career highs with a 72.4 percent completion rate, 37 touchdown passes, and ranked second in the league with 4,629 passing yards. Goff was named a finalist for NFL MVP, alongside Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Saquon Barkley. This marks Goff’s fourth Pro Bowl appearance, and he will start as the NFC quarterback.

Center Frank Ragnow
Frank Ragnow, making his fourth Pro Bowl appearance, is one of the league’s top centers. He allowed only two sacks on 583 pass-block reps, helping Detroit rank 10th in the NFL for fewest sacks allowed (33). Ragnow also earned a 90.8 run-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking third among centers. He will start as the NFC center in Orlando.
