Dominik Szoboszlai makes his first starting start for Liverpool in today’s friendly against Karlsruher (17:30), which will see Jürgen Klopp make a massive substitution.
The Reds are in Germany for an all-important training camp and just four days after arriving they have 90 minutes to face 2.Bundesliga opponents.
The match marks a major occasion for Karlsruher to reopen their refurbished stadium, the Wildparkstadion, but will see many Reds in attendance.
They will see Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in a Liverpool shirt for the first time, but expect plenty of minutes to come as Klopp rebuilds his squad for full match fitness.
One player we know won’t be taking part is the captain, Jordan Henderson, amid ongoing talks to move to Saudi Arabia. Caoimhin Kelleher, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah are part of Germany’s starting XI and there are plenty of options on the substitute bench ahead of the mass rotation.
With a lack of midfield options, Alexander-Arnold will start alongside Liverpool’s new No.8 and youngster Bobby Clark, so keep your eyes peeled!
Liverpool: Kelher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Alexander-Arnold, Clark, Szoboszlai; Diaz, Salah, Nunez
Subs: Jaros, Mrozek, Tsimikas, Scanlon, Matip, Gomez, Quansah, Mac Allister, McConnell, Gakpo, Jota, Doak, Koumas
The end result won’t be a big concern for the Liverpool manager, although winning is always nice as physical fitness and observing tactical and technical progress will be paramount.
