Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is unlikely to play against Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend, according to reports.
According to the Evening Standard, the Frenchman will be examined by the club’s medical team this week, although a return this weekend is not promising.
After leaving Ligue 1 in the summer, Disasi has started every Premier League game this season.
The Blues signed him due to a serious injury to Wesley Fofana, who is likely to miss most of this season due to his pre-season issues.
There hasn’t really been much hype surrounding his addition.
Many feared that this could be the end of Levi Colwill’s time at the club.
Disasi is unlikely to play against Arsenal
However, both have been ever-present at Stamford Bridge this season, with Disasi making the biggest impression of all the summer signings so far.
More than a week ago it emerged that he had to withdraw from the French national team following an injury sustained in the last Premier League match against Burnley.
The Blues completed their back-to-back league victories that day by beating their opponents 4-1, and the international breakthrough came at probably the worst possible time.
Now they face the challenge of title-chasing Arsenal, who come to Stamford Bridge in what will be their biggest test of the season.
Therefore, it will come as a blow that Disasi will reportedly be unable to play against their London rivals.
This could see Levi Colwill return to his more natural central defensive role, likely partnering Thiago Silva ahead of Benoit Badiashile’s return.
