Todd Boehly’s strategy works as Chelsea’s Victor Osimhen transfer plan revealed

The most recent situation about Chelsea as we approach the last few days of the January 2024 transfer window and the Blues have not yet made an acquisition this month

As the January transfer season for 2024 draws to a close, Chelsea has experienced an atypically dull month. The Blues were extremely open to making moves in January if the appropriate offers presented themselves.

But there would be no fear. Maybe a little different from the mayhem we’ve witnessed from the club in previous windows. It’s no secret that Chelsea is looking for a new striker, but all teams have found this month to be challenging financially.

Due to the Premier League’s stringent enforcement of the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), all teams, regardless of standing, are now required to use greater caution in their business activities. Making signings in January is challenging even in the best of times, but this month has proven particularly challenging due to the PSR.

It’s not like Chelsea hasn’t looked at any possible acquisitions. According to football.london, the Blues have had direct discussions regarding central defenders Jean-Clair Todibo and Ousmane Diomande with both OGC Nice and Sporting CP this month.

More preparation has been done for the later, Diomande. Chelsea has been keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old defender’s progress this season and had encouraging discussions earlier this month with his employers and entourage.

But the Blues soon discovered that it would be challenging—and costly—to close a deal by the end of January. Sporting is determined not to let Diomande to leave the team this month, and they would only sell him if his £69 million release clause was fulfilled.
