West Ham are showing interest in the services of the 30-year-old Manchester United ace

West Ham United have ‘tentative interest’ in Manchester United defender Harry Maguire
Premier League rivals West Ham United have a “tentative interest” in Manchester United defender Harry Maguire this summer, according to the Independent (h/t Manchester Evening News).

As things stand, the centre-back faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford. To that end, the Hammers are considering a move for the England international in the current transfer window.

Currently, the Red Devils are ready to part ways with the 30-year-old in the coming weeks. However, with the £50million price tag hanging over his head, it could potentially be a deal breaker for a potential transfer.

Nonetheless, several teams in the English top flight have been linked with Maguire. The Irons are also looking for the defender but want to loan him out.

United secured the 30-year-old’s signature from Leicester City in the summer of 2019. He immediately became a key player for the Old Trafford side.

Unfortunately, the centre-back’s performances have been underperforming in recent seasons. Subsequently, the Englishman lost his place in the starting lineup with the arrival of Erik ten Hag.

In the previous campaign, the gaffer relied on Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as the preferred combination in the backline. French and Argentinian nationals form a strong partnership at United.

As a result, Maguire lost his influence in the team and became a supporting actor. Victor Lindelof also gained more confidence from the Dutch manager last season. The former Ajax head coach even played Luke Shaw at centre-back on occasion in place of the former Leicester star.

Despite Maguire’s fall from the Red Devils, he is still a regular for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions. West Ham will play the Europa League next season. Apparently they could use someone with thirty year experience.
