Liverpool Transfer News: Klopp may bring in a star midfielder from the Bundesliga

Liverpool Transfer News (28 June) – Today’s Liverpool transfer news features a move by Dominik Szoboszlai, the club’s admired Nico Barella and the imminent departure of Nat Phillips.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein said Liverpool are considering a move for Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig this summer.

Ornstein reports that Liverpool believe internally that a move by the Hungarian international may be unrealistic at the moment.

A message from Fabrizio Romano confirms that Szoboszlai’s £60m release clause is likely to expire on 30 June, meaning Liverpool will need to act very quickly if they are to sign the player. Top Flight reported earlier this year that Newcastle are also interested in Szoboszlai.

The Times’ Paul Joyce confirms that Liverpool are interested in Italian midfielder Nico Barella. Joyce states that despite this interest, Barella is not pushing any type of Inter departure.

Barella’s contract with the youngest Champions League finalist runs until 2026, leaving all influence in the hands of the Serie A club.

Athletic’s Phil Hay reports that Leeds United are looking to sign Nat Phillips from Liverpool.

Hay believes Liverpool could ask for up to £10m for the defender. Phillips has been a bit of an outcast since the 20-21 season in which he played a lot of time due to many injuries behind Liverpool.

Phillips has some Championship experience, having played for Bournemouth two seasons ago. Phil Hay thinks the possible signing of Daniel Farke will only fuel Phillips’ ties, as the German manager has already wanted the player during his time at Norwich.
