A bid from Manchester United for Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund has reportedly been rejected in Italy.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United have rejected a €35m offer from Atalanta for young striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The 20-year-old has been a target for Erik ten Hag after he accepted a transfer from Harry Kane is unlikely to materialize.
The report comes to press from Il Corriere dello Sport (page 4) via Football Italia, adding that La Dea wants a minimum of €45m (£38.6m) for the coveted Danish striker.
This represents a steep drop in requests, compared with what Atalanta reportedly asked a few weeks ago, by €60m (£52m). Hojlund is an incredibly exciting candidate and recently put himself in the window with six goals for Denmark in his last four games.
The report also adds that United could face competition from Juventus for the striker. Juventus would need to sell Dusan Vlahovic before they can bid.
The latest with Manchester United’s transfer business
Transfers around United have really started to heat up over the last week. To begin with, an agreement was reached for Mason Mount on Thursday, with the medical scheduled for Monday. The deal for the Englishman will cost United £55m plus £5m in add-ons but will be a huge boost for Erik ten Hag, who has his main target.
Following this, it is also confirmed that United are expected to make an offer for Andre Onana in the coming days. Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has revealed through Fabrizio Romano that United’s interest is real and negotiations are underway.
So in less than a week, United no longer looked like a lost cause but were now close to completing two major deals. It appears that the striker, often dubbed ‘the next Haaland’, is next and with the price quoted, it could happen sooner rather than later.
Especially as current United star and Hojlund’s Danish team-mate Christian Eriksen has already given his backing to Hojlund’s signing.
