2025 NFL Awards: Complete List of Winners and Detroit Lions Players Who Received Votes

Detroit Lions at 2024-25 NFL Honors: Did Any Players or Coaches Bring Home Awards?

14th Annual NFL Honors – Arrivals

The Detroit Lions were well-represented at this year’s NFL Honors, with 11 players, coaches, and former coordinators nominated across several categories. This impressive turnout capped off an unforgettable regular season for the Lions.

All awards were determined by a vote from 50 NFL writers who evaluated the performances of players and coaches during the 2024-25 regular season. Voters were tasked with selecting and ranking their top five picks for each category, awarding 10 points for first place, five points for second, and so on.

Let’s dive into the results.

Most Valuable Player: Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills

  • Josh Allen (Bills): 27 first-place votes, 383 points
  • Lamar Jackson (Ravens): 23 first-place votes, 362 points
  • Saquon Barkley (Eagles, RB): 0 first-place votes, 120 points
  • Joe Burrow (Bengals, QB): 0 first-place votes, 82 points
  • Jared Goff (Lions, QB, 5th): 0 first-place votes, 47 points

While Jared Goff didn’t take home the MVP award, there was some good news for him off the field—his wife, Christen, is expecting their first child. In the end, they might just be the night’s true winners!

Congratulations to Christen and Jared Goff, who will welcome their first baby this offseason! Christen and Jared are here on the red carpet for NFL Honors, where Jared is nominated for MVP and Man of the Year. Offensive Rookie of the Year: Jayden Daniels, QB, Washington Commanders

  • No Lions players nominated for this category.

Defensive Player of the Year: Patrick Surtain, CB, Denver Broncos

  • Patrick Surtain (Broncos): 26 first-place votes, 330 points
  • Trey Hendrickson (Bengals, EDGE): 11 first-place votes, 205 points
  • Myles Garrett (Browns, EDGE): 5 first-place votes, 162 points
  • T.J. Watt (Steelers, EDGE): 3 first-place votes, 114 points
  • Zack Baun (Eagles, LB): 2 first-place votes, 63 points
  • Kerby Joseph (Lions, S, 6th): 1 first-place vote, 60 points

Kerby Joseph, who led the league in interceptions in 2024, was a notable contender. Despite his stellar performance, he couldn’t crack the top five, though his inclusion in the voting was a significant recognition. Aidan Hutchinson, initially a strong contender for the award, was in attendance but unfortunately had his season cut short due to a leg injury. Hutchinson and Goff were seen chatting with Myles Garrett, who recently expressed his desire for a trade—definitely something to keep an eye on!

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Jared Verse, EDGE, Los Angeles Rams

  • Terrion Arnold (Lions, CB, 15th): 1 fifth-place vote, 1 point

Comeback Player of the Year: Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals

  • Joe Burrow (Bengals): 31 first-place votes, 370 points
  • J.K. Dobbins (Chargers, RB): 3 first-place votes, 195 points
  • Sam Darnold (Vikings, QB): 8 first-place votes, 102 points
  • Damar Hamlin (Bills, DB): 3 first-place votes, 86 points
  • Christian Gonzalez (Patriots, CB): 2 first-place votes, 69 points
  • Tim Patrick (Lions, WR, 6th): 3 first-place votes, 67 points
  • Jameson Williams (Lions, WR, 21st): 0 first-place votes, 2 points

After two injury-riddled seasons in Denver, Tim Patrick revived his career in Detroit, earning a starting role and playing all 16 games. His return to form earned him recognition in the top six for Comeback Player of the Year.

While none of the Detroit Lions brought home a prestigious trophy this time around, the number of nominations and the strong performances of key players, like Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson, and Kerby Joseph, show that the team is headed in the right direction. They may not have won big tonight, but their future looks promising.
