As West Ham and Arsenal are set to announce Declan Rice’s deal at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners have informed the Hammers of the sale price for a player wanted by David Moyes.
Given the quality of the negotiations between the two clubs, it wouldn’t be surprising if the two London rivals agreed more deals this summer or in the next transfer windows.
Mikel Arteta’s window couldn’t be better at this stage.
Kai Havertz has been signed, Rice is next and The Athletic (subscription required) suggest Ajax star Jurrien Timber will also sign with the Gunners on the dotted line.
By contrast, the east Londoners have remained mostly calm, although it’s fair to assume West Ham will handle much of their transfer business themselves once the Rice deal is finalised.
An interesting player for Moyes is Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares and Tuttomercatoweb points out that the Gunners are asking for £25million for his services.
It seems a fair price for the 23-year-old Portuguese, who was on loan at Marseille last season, but a deal that comes to fruition could be a major hurdle.
The outlet also points out that while Turkish giants Galatasaray are interested, the player himself is clearly not keen on either club and seems keen to wait and see if a “bigger” club steps in for him.
With such an attitude, buyers are unlikely to approach him, and who could blame them?
