Cowboys’ offensive line may surprise everyone by unexpected starter

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys gained two well-known rookies to their offensive line, albeit one of them might not be able to hold onto the starting position in his rookie season.

It was clear to the Dallas Cowboys that they would need to recruit two new offensive line starters after Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz left in free agency. They selected two well-known players in the NFL Draft but made no moves in free agency.

Tyler Guyton of Oklahoma, who is anticipated to start at left tackle, was selected in the first round. Cooper Beebe of Kansas State was the player they took in for the third round.

Despite being perceived as a possible centre, Beebe played guard for the majority of his career.

Guyton has been outstanding throughout the first week of camp and appears to have the starting job locked up. Conversely, Dallas Cowboys beat journalists refer to Brock Hoffman as “the leader in the clubhouse,” and Beebe finds himself trailing him.

Since the pads have been on, Brock Hoffman has gotten off to a good start in the centre competition. At the line, he is more communicative, technically proficient, and stronger than he was a year ago, and you can see it translating into on-field confidence with Dak Prescott. Although Cooper Beebe has been inconsistent in his shotgun snapping and is still very much learning the position, his mechanical skill is evident. However, Brock Hoffman is currently in charge of the clubhouse.”

Harris was not alone in this evaluation; Hoffman is also viewed as the leader by Patrik Walker, Harris’s equal. Hoffman was described as a “difficult one to move” from the role, but he was lauded for his work ethic.

Hoffman began his career with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech, but he never took a snap for them. After signing with the Cowboys in 2022, he played in all 17 games in 2023, making two starts.
