Expert urges Liverpool to sign surprise player if Mo Salah leaves this summer

Liverpool should consider signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

That’s the view of former Aston Villa and Liverpool forward Stan Collymore, who believes the Brentford no11 could be a smart replacement should Mo Salah leave Anfield this summer.

Salah, 31, has reportedly become a prime target for Saudi club Al-Ittihad, with the Egyptian international to be offered a contract worth £1,500,000 a week (Sky Sports).

Jürgen Klopp has vehemently denied any suggestion that the Reds will try to profit from Salah. Speaking to reporters on Friday, the German said: “We have no offers – Mo Salah is a Liverpool player and for all the things we do he is essential. If so, the answer would be no. Mo is 100 per cent committed to Liverpool. Nothing to discuss.”

However, if the lavish Saudi club make the Merseyside giants an offer they simply cannot refuse and Salah ends up saying goodbye to Anfield, Collymore believes the Premier League already have an ideal replacement.

Bryan Mbeumo
Responding to recent reports linking Ivan Toney with a move from Brentford, Collymore, speaking in an exclusive interview, said: “Interestingly, he’s actually one of Toney’s team-mates at Brentford who I think the better teams are higher ranked and should take a close look – Bryan Mbeumo.” – I love it!

“It may surprise some of you, but Mbeumo is my favorite player in the Premier League. I think he has quality. Every time I look at him, he brings the ball close to his feet, he is very direct, he makes excellent runs in the channels, he knows how to drop deep, he holds the ball very well, he supports his attacking partner a lot, he gets into the penalty area and he scores goals, he is physically strong. I can continue. He is a great player!

“If Salah leaves Liverpool this summer, I definitely think Jürgen Klopp should consider number 19 Brentford.”

Mbeumo, who is just 24 and is valued at a modest £35million(TM), certainly presents himself as a potentially smart option. With the Bees he scored 44 goals in 175 appearances.

Do you think Liverpool should consider him if Salah leaves before the end of the period? Let us know in the comments.
