How Ousmane Dembele’s transfer to PSG will have a major impact on Arsenal’s plans

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele appears to be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window and the move could have a big impact on Arsenal’s plans.

According to recent reports, Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele is close to a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

French broadcaster RMC Sport has claimed PSG will activate Dembele’s release clause, which will cost just €50m (£43m), a price that will double if not activated before the end July. The 26-year-old’s upcoming move to Parc des Princes comes as a surprise to many and could even impact Arsenal’s transfer plans.

The Gunners have been linked with two other Barcelona forwards in Raphinha and Ferran Torres of late. Mikel Arteta was keen to sign Raphinha from Leeds United last summer, while Torres has been singled out as a potential target for the past two years.

Given that Dembele is already set to leave Camp Nou, it seems unlikely that the Catalan giants will leave another of their best wingers this summer as well. Torres himself has confirmed in a recent interview with Sport that he wants to stay alongside Xavi and fight for his place.

“It’s very important for a striker to score to get off to a good start. I’m going to fight for a place in the team,” said the former Manchester City striker. “And then it’s up to the coach to decide [my future].”

“The names [associated with ‘moves away’] are provided by journalists. I have a contract here. Rest.

“I don’t care what anyone says about me. I’ll work as hard as anyone else.”
