Manchester United increase bid for Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United have turned down a £20m offer from West Ham for Harry Maguire. They are ready to sell the defender, but only at a higher price, and previously rejected an attempt by West Ham to loan Maguire out.

Maguire was sacked as captain by Erik ten Hag just under two weeks ago and knows he needs regular action to retain his place in the England squad. He started just eight Premier League games last season.

United have increased their bid for Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund to over €60m (£51.4m). Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Højlund but the Denmark international is keen to join United who are looking to complete a deal as soon as possible to focus on other positions.

They have signed goalkeeper André Onana and midfielder Mason Mount and are targeting a defensive midfielder, among other things.
