Is Jalen Milroe Participating in the Senior Bowl? Alabama QB to Join Pre-NFL Draft Event

Jalen Milroe

For the past two years, Jalen Milroe has been one of Alabama’s most recognizable figures, with a level of visibility and name recognition that rivals even the state’s most prominent individuals. Playing the quarterback position for the Crimson Tide certainly has that effect.

After two seasons as Alabama’s quarterback, where he helped navigate the program through the transition from Nick Saban to Kalen DeBoer, Milroe appears ready to move on to the next stage of his career. He declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on January 2 and shared what seemed like a farewell message on Instagram.

“Thank you, Alabama!” he wrote in his caption. “Forever Roll Tide!”

Even if the redshirt junior follows through with his decision and never plays for Alabama again, he will have one last chance to compete in the state that has been his home for the last few years.

Is Jalen Milroe playing in the Senior Bowl?
Milroe accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl, which was announced the day after his NFL draft declaration. As of January 23, Milroe was one of eight quarterbacks scheduled to participate in the event, alongside Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, Ohio State’s Will Howard, and Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard. He was also among five Alabama players selected, including defensive back Malachi Moore, defensive lineman Tim Smith, tight end CJ Dippre, and punter James Burnip.

The Senior Bowl, held at South Alabama’s Hancock Whitney Stadium, is one of the premier showcases for NFL prospects, with players’ performances often influencing their draft stock. The 2024 Senior Bowl attracted over 900 NFL personnel, including key decision-makers from all 32 NFL teams.

Jalen Milroe NFL Draft Projections
Milroe is an intriguing NFL prospect, thanks to his impressive speed, powerful arm, and strong, physical frame. However, his inconsistent college production adds uncertainty to his potential at the next level.

As a result, his draft projections are varied. Some outlets project him to be selected early, while others predict he will go in the second or third round.

The 2025 quarterback class is generally seen as weak, with Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders being the only quarterbacks expected to go early in the first round. However, given the importance of the quarterback position, it’s possible that a team might select Milroe in the first round or trade up to acquire him.

Here’s a sampling of where Milroe is projected in the first round:

  • CBS Sports: Round 1, No. 3 overall, New York Giants
  • Akron Beacon Journal: Round 1, No. 7 overall, New York Jets
  • The Tennessean: Round 1, No. 18 overall, Seattle Seahawks
  • Fox Sports: Round 1, No. 18 overall, Seattle Seahawks
  • The Ringer: Round 1, No. 32 overall, Las Vegas Raiders (trade with Detroit Lions)
  • The Athletic: Round 2, No. 34 overall, New York Giants
  • USA TODAY Sports: Not included in the first round

NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah discussed Milroe’s prospects on The Pat McAfee Show on January 23, saying Milroe has a “huge opportunity” at the Senior Bowl to improve his draft position.

“We’ve seen that go sideways as of late, when you just kind of go all-in on traits and some of the quarterbacking stuff isn’t there,” Jeremiah said. “You’re like ‘OK, that’s going to come.’ Sometimes, it doesn’t. That’s why he’s going to be a little bit of an enigma. Somebody will do it. He’s going to go on day two just because the tools are so interesting.”

Jalen Milroe Stats
Over his four years at Alabama, Milroe completed 64.3% of his passes for 6,016 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions, including 5,678 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions during his two seasons as a starter.

Milroe also rushed for 1,577 yards and 33 touchdowns during his career, with 726 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns in the 2024 season. He became the fourth quarterback in SEC history to rush for at least 20 touchdowns in a season, joining Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, and Johnny Manziel.

However, Milroe saw a decline in his passing stats during the 2024 season, particularly while adjusting to a new offensive scheme under DeBoer and offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan. He threw seven fewer touchdowns and five more interceptions than in 2023.
