Liverpool want to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. The club are aware that their future will be reassessed after the player’s return to the national team
Liverpool are pushing to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich this summer as the player is open to a departure from the Bundesliga giants.
Gravenberch joined Bayern from Ajax for £21million last summer but suffered a frustrating first season in Germany which saw Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka fight their way into the starting XI. The 21-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions but started only five times.
Bayern recently announced the signing of Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig on a four-year contract, prompting Gravenberch to clarify that any update on his own future will be given after the European Under-21 Championship. which is about to end.
Manchester United are also credited with an interest in the midfielder as Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag gave the player his Ajax debut and helped develop his talents.
However, Liverpool’s interest has reportedly grown further – with the club ready to back Jurgen Klopp’s transfer bid. Bayern president Herbert Hainer told Bild: “In my opinion, he’s an incredibly talented player.
That’s why we brought him in. He got more playing time towards the end of the season. I’m sure he will get more playing time in the season.” Future.”
It comes after the midfielder told De Telegraaf: “There may be plans with me. I haven’t really spoken to the coach about it yet, it comes after the European Championship [U21] when I come back from Georgia and Romania. Then we’ll see how it is.”
He added: “I just want to play more, preferably at Bayern Munich. Otherwise at a club where I play 100%. That’s my preference. Because I don’t want to have another year like the one I’ve had now. So ‘a season is good, i really learned a lot. But I just want to play football.”
Gravenberch, 21, made fewer than 100 first-team appearances for the Dutch giants under Ten Hag, who made his first-team debut before the midfielder moved to Bayern last summer. However, he only played this campaign as a supporting actor.
After withdrawing from the race for Borussia Dortmund talisman Jude Bellingham, Liverpool are expected to sign more than one midfielder in the summer after a struggling season in the Premier League.
They have already signed Alexis MacAllister from Brighton and at least one more midfield addition is expected following the departures of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Earlier this year, it was said talks had progressed to the point where Merseyside Reds have agreed to match the midfielder’s current salary, which would mean taking him to a contract worth around £200,000 a week.
