The Lions managed to keep Hank Fraley, but they couldn’t retain two other coaches.
Wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El and assistant quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett are reportedly joining Ben Johnson’s staff in Chicago.
According to ESPN, Randle El will take on the role of receivers coach and assistant head coach with the Bears. He was one of Dan Campbell’s original hires in Detroit and played a significant role in developing players such as Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Kalif Raymond.
Barrett, who joined the Lions as an offensive assistant in 2022 in his first coaching position, spent the past two seasons coaching quarterbacks under Mark Brunell. Per the Chicago Tribune, he will now be the primary quarterbacks coach for the Bears, focusing on developing Caleb Williams.
Both Randle El and Barrett were well-liked in Detroit, which is common for Campbell’s coaching staff. He has several open positions to fill this offseason, including both offensive and defensive coordinator roles.
The Lions were able to keep Fraley by promoting him to run game coordinator in addition to his duties as offensive line coach.

Detroit Lions’ Terrion Arnold posts video of himself tumbling down stairs: “Had a rough morning”
Detroit Lions standout cornerback Terrion Arnold had an unexpected fall—but it wasn’t on the football field.
The 21-year-old Florida native shared a video on his X account Thursday, capturing a mishap at his home where he slips down a flight of stairs.
In the footage, Arnold, holding his phone, is seen walking down the stairs before his foot slips, sending him crashing onto his back. His phone flies out of his hand as he tumbles the entire flight, eventually landing at the bottom and sitting for a few moments. The video cuts out shortly after.
“Had a rough morning,” the 21-year-old captioned the clip, accompanied by some crying-laughing emojis.
The post garnered 1.6 million views and over 33,000 likes on X, with fans in the comments joining Arnold in laughter over the fall.
One user shared a screenshot of Arnold sitting at the bottom of the stairs, looking as if he was reflecting on what just happened, captioning it: “bro had enough.”

Another commenter noticed Arnold’s reaction while sliding down, noting, “The way you looked back for your phone as you were sliding down,” and adding a skull emoji.
A fan also expressed concern for the rookie’s safety, urging him to be cautious with his phone for the team’s sake.
“Major player, please refrain from playing on your phone when you’re walking around, we don’t ever want to lose you to a misstep,” they wrote. “Dear Lord, please keep our finely tuned star DB safe from his surroundings. We love him.”
Arnold, who was an All-American defensive back at the University of Alabama, was selected by Detroit in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. The rookie chose No. 0 for his jersey, explaining to ESPN, “ain’t nobody like me.”
He quickly became a key player for the Lions, helping the team secure a franchise-record 15-2 record and the NFC’s No. 1 seed—another first for the franchise. However, their memorable season ended last week with a loss to Washington in the divisional round of the playoffs.
