Liverpool are set to give Jurgen Klopp £164million to sign up to four players before the transfer deadline. According to report
The Reds signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai earlier in the transfer window to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita, who all left on free transfers at the end of June.
However, the unexpected departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia mean Klopp needs at least one or two more midfielders this summer.
Klopp confirmed yesterday that he has made an offer for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. Further reports confirmed that the offer of around £110m had been accepted by the Seagulls.
But the Ecuador international now seems to have made it clear he would rather join Chelsea than the Reds as the Blues are looking to make an offer for Caicedo at around the same price. Liverpool have also rejected several offers for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, with the Reds unwilling to match the Saints’ £50m asking price for the 19-year-old Belgium international.
And now Spanish publication Nacional is insisting Liverpool will spend €190m (£164m) in the final weeks of the transfer window to “satisfy” Klopp.
The German ‘is not satisfied’ with his additions so far, because he wants more numbers and has the ‘budget’ to bring in up to four new faces before the deadline.
It is clear their “big priority” is still Lavia at Southampton, who has been “chosen” as the main alternative to Caicedo, with the report insisting they will reach an agreement with Saints in the coming days.
They also have “a very serious interest” in Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, with the Frenchman hoping to “change the scene this year and try his luck at a more ambitious club”. With the €35m it would cost to sign Thuram, Klopp would have enough money in his budget to also ‘sign a striker and a right-back’, with Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen on the German’s radar .
And Liverpool are ready to offer ‘more than’ €65m to bring the Dutch international to Anfield after scoring 10 goals in 35 games last season.
Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui, who came through the youth ranks at Ajax, is his ‘preferred’ option as a right-back and ‘they hope to sign him from Bayern Munich for around €30m euro”.
