Liverpool have a personal deal with the target despite £55m offer

Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton and are pursuing the midfielder despite strong interest from Chelsea.

A report from Football Insider claims Liverpool have agreed a personal deal with the 19-year-old defensive midfielder and it remains to be seen whether they can now sign a deal with Southampton.

Liverpool have reportedly offered up to £48m for the Belgian midfielder. But Chelsea have been offered a package of around £55m. It is clear that the Blues are currently ahead to sign the player. Chelsea need reinforcements in midfield following the departure of N’Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovačić. The 19-year-old could prove to be a quality long-term signing and provide much-needed cover for Chelsea’s defensive unit.

Likewise, Liverpool approved the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho earlier this summer and need to sign a good defensive midfielder.

Despite being relegated from Southampton last season, the 19-year-old has impressed with his performances in the top flight and it’s no surprise Chelsea and Liverpool are keen to sign him.

Lavia is still quite young and will likely improve with training and experience. Working under coaches like Mauricio Pochettino or Jurgen Klopp could help him improve further and live up to his world-class potential.

The two clubs would also compete for the signing of Moises Caicedo. It will be interesting to see which club buys both midfielders this summer.

According to one report, Liverpool has made Gabri Veiga an offer of €25 million (£21 point 5 million).

Despite the £95 million additions of Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, the Reds still need to finish their much-discussed midfield rebuild.

As James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have already left the club, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have recently left for Saudi Arabia, leaving Liverpool in need of additional midfield additions.

According to Melissa Reddy’s report this week, Andre Trindade (Fluminense) and Romeo Lavia (Southampton) are strongly linked as potential candidates for the 2019–20 Premier League champions’ ‘two profiles’—a ‘progressive destroyer’ and a ‘controller.

The Reds, according to a Spanish report, are reportedly looking for a different kind of midfielder and have made a bid for Gabri Veiga, a 21-year-old star for Celta.

Liverpool offers a La Liga star €25 million.
Last week, it was reported that representatives from Liverpool met with club legend and current Celta manager Rafa Benitez to discuss the young players. A new report from Deportes COPE Galicia (via Estadio Deportivo) claims that an offer has since been made.

According to the report, the Reds have made a “juicy” €25 million bid for Veiga, who has a €40 million (£34 million) release clause, and Celta has been offered to take the player back on loan for the upcoming season to sweeten the deal.

Veiga doesn’t necessarily fit either of the two Reddy-identified “profiles,” but he does offer a much more attacking option than the other midfielders Liverpool has been linked with recently.

The 2022–23 La Liga season saw the star of Spain’s Under-21 team score an impressive 11 goals in 36 games, and Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real Madrid have all been mentioned as possible suitors.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Veiga’s next stop will probably be the Premier League.
