Liverpool is ready for transfer “boost” as the sports director conducts “smooth” negotiations for a £60 million move.

Newcastle United are close to signing a midfielder which will likely mean they have no interest in Nicolo Barella.

Newcastle United are set to leave Sandro Tonali.
The Magpies are reportedly ready to sign the midfielder from AC Milan for a transfer fee of £60million.

The Magpies are looking to bolster their Champions League preparation options after finishing third in the Premier League.

The Northern Echo say Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth has already had smooth talks with San Siro officials over a deal.

And with Eddie Howe’s men appearing to be closing in on Tonali, that will likely mean they’re taking an interest in Nicolo Barella.

Liverpool is ready for transfer "boost" as the sports director conducts "smooth" negotiations for a £60 million move.
Newcastle are said to be keen on the Inter Milan star and willing to pay £50m for his services. However, Champions League finalists estimate Barella, who scored nine goals and ten assists last season, to be worth around £80m.

Newcastle therefore appear to be walking away from a move for Barella – and there will be one less interested party if Liverpool are to step up their interest.

The Reds have been linked to Euro 2020 winner Italy for several months, with Jürgen Klopp an admirer.

The Liverpool supreme is aiming to sign at least one more midfielder before the summer transfer window closes, having already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for £35m.

Nice’s Khephren Thuram and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch have also been linked with a move to Anfield.

Caoimhin Kelleher clarifies his position as two clubs negotiate a goalkeeper transfer

While Liverpool could count on Caoimhin Kelleher’s transfer, three Premier League clubs that have shown interest in the summer could have moved on.

Having made just four appearances last season and already proving himself worthy of the regular role, Kelleher is set to leave Anfield this summer.

The Irishman, who turns 25 in November, would certainly benefit from being considered a No.1 elsewhere as Alisson is adamant between positions at Liverpool.

As of this writing, there are no signs that Kelleher has asked for an exit, but growing interest across the Premier League has suggested he has options.
Brighton, Brentford and Tottenham would all have been on the cork trail, but things now appear to have changed.

The first step came when Brighton signed Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht. Athletic have reported that they are ‘close’ to signing the 20-year-old Dutchman. Verbruggen is expected to move for around £17m, which could convince his other suitors, Burnley, to move in with ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reported on Thursday that Tottenham had verbally agreed an initial £17.2million deal with Empoli for Guglielmo Vicario.

This is because Tottenham are “reluctant” to meet Brentford’s requests for their goalkeeper David Raya, which could lead to the Spaniard staying with the Bees.

If Brighton and Tottenham were to be left out, only Brentford from that first wave of clubs would be interested in Kelleher.

But whether they will try to retain Raya remains to be seen as he has been described as “unlikely” to sign a contract extension which expires next year. Kelleher could therefore still stay at Liverpool next season, something Jurgen Klopp has been insisting on for a long time.

“Honestly, I can’t imagine Caoimh leaving,” he said in May.
“It must be an exceptional offer for me to think about [selling him], I must say.”

The Liverpool No.62 last signed a new contract in 2021, tying him to the club until 2026 when he will be 27.
