Liverpool transfer news, rumours, gossip and speculation including the latest on Federico Chiesa, Levi Colwill, Kylian Mbappe, Marc Guehi, Jordan Henderson, Perr Schuurs, Manu Kone Micky van de Ven, Khephren Thuram, Romeo Lavia, Mohamed Salah and more
Reports emerged last night that Liverpool have inquired about Chelsea defender Levi Colwill on more than one occasion, with the 20-year-old’s future currently in doubt after impressing at Brighton on a loan spell year. Meanwhile, rumors have also surfaced linking the Reds with a move for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
Elsewhere, any hopes Liverpool had of securing a deal for Mason Mount were dashed after the England midfielder’s transfer to Manchester United was confirmed. Still, the likes of Romeo Lavia, Kephram Thuram and Manu Kone continue to be linked with a move to Anfield.
Departures also appear to be a priority for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp continues to rejuvenate his squad. Jordan Henderson, Thiago and especially Mohamed Salah have been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia in recent days.
How would you replace Salah? Kylian Mbappe maybe? The superstar striker, amid ties to Liverpool, has been handed a transfer ultimatum from Paris Saint-Germain.
Johnson has the right to transfer Valverde
Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson doesn’t think Federico Valverde would jump at the chance to join his former club this summer.
Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp planning a midfield revamp this summer, have been linked with a move for the Real Madrid star in recent weeks.
However, despite the links, Johnson doesn’t believe Real would be ready to sell the 24-year-old to Liverpool this summer.
Speaking to Betfred, Johnson said: “I can’t imagine Real Madrid being open to the prospect of selling Federico, although I would love to see Liverpool sign him because he’s a very good player.”
“Would he want to leave Real Madrid, where he has great chances of winning La Liga and the Champions League, to join a struggling Liverpool side?
“I don’t think he would jump at the chance. However, he is definitely a player Liverpool would love to sign.”
Liverpool ‘make €200m offer’ for Mbappe
Liverpool have reportedly made a €200m bid to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain.
So says journalist Edu Aguirre, who says on Sport Witness: “What has been going on in the PSG offices for the past few hours is that an offer has come in from Liverpool.”
“Liverpool entered the scene, Liverpool made an offer of 200 million euros for Mbappé. Liverpool’s offer, paid in the offices of PSG in recent hours, is 200 million euros. Al-Khelaifi put Mbappe for sale.
Turin ‘waits’ for Schuur’s change
Torino are expecting a ‘revival’ from Liverpool defender Perr Schuurs this summer.
That’s according to Italian outlet Tuttosport via Sport Witness, who report that the Serie A club’s officials expect the Reds to return for the Dutchman after a previous €30million offer was rejected.
The report goes on to say that Torino’s technical director David Vagnati has made it clear to agents and intermediaries that he wants €40m.
PSG confirm Mbappe’s position
Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed that Kylian Mbappe will have to sign a new contract if he wants to stay at the club.
Mbappe, who first joined PSG on loan from Monaco in 2017 and then joined for 180m euros (£165.7m), has scored 212 goals in 260 games for the club.
However, it is alleged that he told the Ligue 1 club that he would not extend his contract with them beyond 2024.
Mbappe, who has been linked with Liverpool in the past and even held talks with the Anfield club before deciding to extend his stay in Paris, is now linked with a move to Real Madrid. “Our position is very clear,” Al-Khelaifi said.
“If Kylian Mbappe wants to stay – we want him to stay – he has to sign a new contract. We can’t let the best player in the world leave for nothing right now. It’s impossible.”
Before adding: “It’s a French club and as he said he is not considering leaving on a free transfer. If someone has changed their mind, it’s not our fault.
Chiesa considering move to Liverpool
Federico Chiesa’s agents have reportedly traveled to England for talks with Liverpool. That’s what Corriere dello Sport report about Paisley Gates, who says his representatives want the Reds or other Premier League contenders to sign the player.
The report goes on to say that Chiesa are awaiting signals from the transfer market and could soon receive “important” updates from the Premier League.
Liverpool announce final friendly of pre-season
Liverpool fans will be eager to see Anfield’s new route up close after the Reds announced they will play their final pre-season friendly at Deepdale next month.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will face German club SV Darmstadt on Monday August 7 – six days before the start of their Premier League season at Chelsea – completing their summer fixtures at the home of Preston North End. The game starts at 7 p.m.
With the finishing touches being put on the 7,000 capacity expansion on the Anfield Road side, Liverpool are playing their fifth and final friendly in Lancashire before looking to open their doors to crowds of up to 61,000 from mid-August.
Rumors circulated last month that the Reds were a full four weeks behind schedule on their plans to open in time for their visit to Bournemouth on August 19.
However, ECHO unveiled the idea behind the Deepdale friendly last month, and it’s clear the proposals have been in the pipeline for some time. The deal is not because the £80m development project at Anfield Road is off schedule.
Guehi is linked with Liverpool
Liverpool are reportedly among the squads targeting Newcastle United this summer for the signing of Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
Football Insider reports that alongside Newcastle and Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are also interested in Guehi. However, the report also claims that Palace’s asking price could make a deal too difficult.
Since joining Palace from Chelsea in London, Guehi has played over 80 games for the Eagles and won the first of four caps for England.
Liverpool ‘interested in Colwill’
Liverpool are reportedly still interested in signing Levi Colwill this summer. That’s according to data from football.london, who also report that Chelsea remain determined to keep the young defender and are also looking to offer him a new deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
However, Colwill wants to be reassured about the amount of first-team football he has at Chelsea and will meet Mauricio Pochettino once he returns from his England Under-21 cap.
Colwill is a much-wanted man this summer after enjoying a truly impressive 2022/23 season on loan on the south coast at Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to the report, the Seagulls are looking to sign Colwill on a permanent basis and have already turned down two offers from Chelsea for the defender.
