No. 13 LSU (4-1, 1-1 SEC) will take advantage of a bye week in Week 6 before returning home to Tiger Stadium on October 11 for a primetime showdown against Shane Beamer’s South Carolina Gamecocks.
Following their first defeat of the 2025 campaign this past weekend, Brian Kelly and his squad are aiming to regroup after a tough performance against Ole Miss.
“Disappointed in the loss, certainly,” Kelly said on Saturday. “There is a game within the game. You start with the first half, where our inability to sustain anything on the offensive side of the ball put our defense on the field for 50 plays.
“At the end of the day, when you put it all together for four quarters, we didn’t play complementary football, which you have to do in this league. You have to be able to complement your offense and defense. When our offense started to move the ball, our defense couldn’t get the stop.”
Through five games, LSU’s offense is averaging just 104.8 rushing yards per contest—ranking them No. 121 nationally in that category.
Against the Rebels on Saturday, LSU managed only 57 total rushing yards on 22 attempts—a concerning figure for the Tigers’ ground game.
The Bayou Bengals have struggled to generate balance on offense throughout the season, particularly in the rushing department.
In addition to issues on the ground, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has had his fair share of difficulties in 2025, while the offensive line has endured a rough start to the year.
With that behind them, LSU is now looking to regroup and refocus ahead of Week 7, when they host LaNorris Sellers and the Gamecocks in hopes of getting back on track.
The October 11 matchup at Tiger Stadium will be a night game between two SEC opponents, with LSU aiming to return to the win column.
