Manchester United are busy with deals to shake up their goalkeeping department following the departure of David de Gea.
We already know that Erik ten Hag wants Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as his new number 1. The deal to bring the former Ajax goalkeeper to Old Trafford is reportedly going well.
Also, with great uncertainty surrounding Dean Henderson’s future, it’s no wonder Ten Hag is looking for more options in the market.
United are believed to be looking to sign Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as one of three options to come on as a reserve next season.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says United are working on a deal to sign the Japan U21 goalkeeper but have not yet opened talks with Urawa Reds as they focus on completing the transfer of Onana. It remains to be seen who the other two guardians are.
Tom Heaton was between the posts as United played their first pre-season game of the summer against Leeds.
There match ended 2-0 in United’s favor and Ten Hag substituted Heaton for Matej Kovar at half-time. Both goalkeepers impressed and played sweeping roles although they weren’t under too much pressure as United dominated the game throughout.
