New injury news from Liverpool indicates that six of their £35 million top players will not play against Newcastle United.

Liverpool will be without several key players for their Premier League match against Newcastle United.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced injury news ahead of their New Year’s Day home game against Newcastle United (kick-off 8pm). United are top of the Premier League, 13 points ahead of the visitors, who have dropped to ninth after losing their next games against Luton Town and Nottingham Forest.

Injuries were a major factor in United’s dip in form as they traveled to Anfield without nine senior players. But Liverpool have enough injury problems.

Andy Robertson is one of the players to dislocate his shoulder and Alexis McAllister is not certain to play against Newcastle. “Lobo’s shoulder still needs more distance,” said Jurgen Klopp. “It’s not even close to team training yet. He can do a lot without the use of his right arm, but he still has a long way to go. I think we should get closer in January. “Maka, let’s see what she can do today. We will see. Liverpool will be without long-term injuries to Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas this month, as well as Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Vaicetic and Ben Doak.

Klopp added: “I think Thiago will also start training with the team around the same time (January).” It’s okay to ask Stefan how he’s feeling and if he can work out. But we have to be aware. Because it is growing. We have to be careful.

“He could train fully today and tomorrow, but not for five weeks. This is a medical decision. It’s not his decision or mine, and it just irritates him.”
