Dominik Szoboszlai joins Liverpool after Reds activate playmaker’s €70m release clause
The new signing is expected to earn £120,000 a week
Mo Salah remains the club’s top earner
Dominik Szoboszlai emerged as an intriguing talent for Jurgen Klopp as RB Salzburg faced Liverpool twice in the 2019/20 Champions League group stage.
The Reds have followed the Hungarian playmaker closely ever since, eventually deciding to secure their man just before his €70m release clause at RB Leipzig expired.
While the Reds could make strides depending on income, Szoboszlai is likely to complete a much needed midfield reshuffle following the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
Klopp’s two shiny new midfield toys are sure to encourage the 2019/20 Premier League winners next season as they look to improve after a disappointing 2022/23.
The club will feel they did not pay too much to bring Szoboszlai to Anfield, nor is he deemed to have breached Liverpool’s salary structure. Dominik Szoboszlai’s salary at RB Leipzig
There are different statements about the Hungarian captain’s previous salary at RB Leipzig. Some claim he earned as little as £35,000 a week, while others suggest he earned over £70,000.
However, Szoboszlai certainly didn’t make as much money on Merseyside as he did.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s Liverpool salary announced
Again, there are some differences in the player’s reported salary at Liverpool, although the range is not that wide.
Szoboszlai has reportedly signed a five-year contract with the Reds, worth around £120,000-125,000 a week.
Consequently, his contract pales in comparison to Mason Mount’s speculated deal with Manchester United and Declan Rice with Arsenal. Both England internationals would earn double Szoboszlai’s weekly wages at their new clubs.

If the figures are correct, Szoboszlai will become Liverpool’s 11th tallest player. Cody Gakpo, who arrives in January 2023, is also believed to be earning £120,000 a week.
Newcomer Mac Allister, who joined for £35m at the start of the period, will initially earn more than the Hungarian after hitting a deal worth £150,000 a week. Among the two new signings are Jordan Henderson, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, all earning a weekly wage of £140,000.
Mohamed Salah remains Liverpool’s top earner after the club offered him a lucrative new contract worth £250,000 a week in 2022.
Virgil Can Diijk and Thiago (both earning a weekly salary of £220,000) are the only other players earning more than £200,000 a week.
Ibrahima Konate (£70,000) and Luis Diaz (£56,000) earn surprisingly low weekly wages, with Nat Phillips (£60,000) earning more than the Colombian who was quickly impacted following his January 2022 arrival.
