Trevon Diggs is currently dealing with a calf injury that has kept him sidelined from practice this week, raising concerns about his availability for the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
However, there is some optimism. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy noted that there is “some hope” Diggs could play in Atlanta, though it remains uncertain.
While key defenders Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland have been ruled out once more, Diggs will be a game-time decision.

As an All-Pro, Diggs’s presence could be crucial; if the Cowboys can field a healthy Lamb and Diggs together, it might significantly enhance their defensive strategy during practice.

Are the Cowboys done for? Dallas’ last chance to save the season
The Cowboys currently sit third in the NFC East, already three games behind the leaders.
In the 2024/25 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys haven’t waited until January to falter; they’ve seemingly done so before November. However, there may be a way out if they’re willing to make some tough decisions.
“Trade, trade, trade,” suggests Michael Irvin as a strategy to move up from third place in the NFC East, with the team struggling at a 3-4 record behind the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles.
“It looks bad right now. The only kind of hope they have is if some kind of move is made at the trade deadline. I don’t know, but it’s certainly not going to improve by staying as they are,” he told TMZ Sports.
“They have to do something,” Irvin emphasized. “It’s bad right now. The morale is bad, everybody’s hurting.”
TMZ alerts Mike McCarthy about the possibility of his dismissal.
TMZ has indicated that Mike McCarthy may face termination due to the poor record, which is certainly a concern for Jerry Jones, especially after investing $376 million in new deals for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, while Micah Parsons remains uncertain about his future.
The franchise owner will likely be frustrated that neither player is currently able to spark the offense. Irvin warns that this situation could lead to McCarthy facing the axe as he struggles to find solutions.
“You continue losing, something’s going to have to happen,” Irvin stated to TMZ. “There’s never, ‘It’s okay.’ Nobody is saying that in the NFL.”
He highlighted the pressure on NFL head coaches, stating, “The toughest, most pressurized jobs in this country. Top 33. I’ll give you one, POTUS [President], and we’ll decide that in a few days. But here from two to 33? NFL head coaches. Period. Bar none. You win or your a is gone.”
