Defender Robin Koch of Leeds United ignores a move to the Bundesliga for Manchester United.

Leeds United defender Robin Koch has rejected advances from Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Newcastle.

Koch is now on the brink of a move to the Bundesliga, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen battling to sign him.

Earlier this month, The Peoples Person reported on a report from Florian Plettenberg which said United were keen to sign Koch.

According to Plettenberg, United held “vague talks” about taking Koch to the Theater of Dreams.

Relegated Leeds are preparing for a huge exodus this summer, with many of their senior players looking for alternative destinations.

It has been announced that Koch has no chance of staying with the Yorkshire club. He is approaching the final year of his contract and Leeds are keen to cash in on his sale.

According to Kicker to Sport Witness, Koch snubbed United and Newcastle and decided to move to the German Premier League.

The outlet said: “Leeds United defender Robin Koch has decided to turn down interest from Newcastle and Manchester United as he only wants to return to the Bundesliga.

“However, neither of these clubs [United and Newcastle] have progressed and it has since been reported that Koch will move to Frankfurt or Leverkusen, with both working to win him over.”

Koch has two reasons why he won’t jump at the chance to join United or the Magpies. First, he wants to be a standout player and be a leader wherever he goes. Secondly, Koch intends to make the Germany squad ahead of next year’s European Championship.

He knows there is a big chance of being relegated to a supporting role at a Premier League club and so has chosen to resist the “financial temptation” of teams like United.
